Advice about winter
In no particular order, here is the advice I have received so far about how to handle my first winter in the Fargo-Moorhead area. As needs arise, I will add questions to which y'all can respond to help me out with your own advice.
Essential things to carry in my car during winter: Shovel, emergency blanket, some food, instant hand warmers
Keep and light candles in the house
Buy cut flowers on occasion in winter
Have an insulated garage- or install a block heater in your car.
Get 3 jackets- two layers for warmth (fleece & synthetic down) & 1 to block the wind
Buy shoes with a cold rating to -20 degrees
When you feel like you will never get warm again, sit in a sauna until you are hot to your bones.
Get something called Gas Dry for your gas tank in he winter.
Spray the rubber parts of your car with something to keep them from freezing
Never let your car have less than half a tank of gas
